$5 Thrift Store Lamp Makeover
Hey hey! Thanks for visiting the blog! Since I love quick and straight to the point blogs, lets get to it!
So I've always loved the thrift store. Its literally one of my favorite places! If you know me personally you've seen me encourage people to shop for almost anything at the thrift store. This past Tuesday on Instagram I motivated you guys to shop for home decor at the thrift store.
It is possible to find pieces you like and turn them into pieces you love! That is what we're doing this week. I found a really great $5 lamp. When I saw it I thought it would be perfect if it wasn't red. But of course thats something we can change!
Step one: Spray paint! Pick your color, tape off anything that you don't want spray paint on, spray light layers, let it dry totally before touching! Spraying light layers will help prevent drips marks, it may not be perfect but don't sweat it. Even I got a few but they aren't very noticeable.
I usually let it dry past what the can recommends. Be sure to do this in a ventilated area!
Step two: Upgrade the shade! I have scrap fabric that I thought would add a nice touch. I used a low temp hot glue gun to stick it on. I measured it out first, and glued along the corners a little at a time. Quick and simple!
Step three: Remove tape and put together lamp! In literally three steps you can have the lamp of your dreams. The best part about my creation is that I did not have to purchase anything to achieve it. I already had gold spray paint and scrap fabric!
I absolutely love the way my lamp turned out! It may not be meant to be a desk lamp but it is one now haha! Now go and be great and recreate something and make sure you tell me all about it! Comment below and let me know if you want to see more thrift store recreations.
The thrift store contains so much potential! Im sure there is something at your local thrift store waiting for you!
Until next time.
Happy thrifting and don't forget to check out the shop!
